Hiwa's eight floors and 26,000 square meters host a diverse range of spaces, from aquatics and sports halls to fitness studios and rooftop turf. The challenge was to create a consistent user experience across these varied zones, and the AV design, particularly the audio system, played a pivotal role. The key to success lay in treating the audio as core infrastructure, rather than an add-on, and prioritizing consistency, flexibility, and long-term performance.
At the heart of the system is a Dante-distributed network, allowing audio to be efficiently routed across multiple floors and zones. This approach, supported by Crown DCi DriveCore amplifiers, helped reduce cable runs and streamline installation and system management. The system was designed to handle extremes, from high-energy, music-driven environments to acoustically challenging spaces and outdoor areas exposed to weather and ambient noise.
JBL loudspeakers were deployed across the facility in a mix of formats to suit these conditions. High-output systems with subwoofer support drive the fitness, weight rooms, and dance studios, while column arrays and distributed loudspeakers provide even coverage across large sports halls. In more challenging areas, such as the aquatic hall and outdoor zones, JBL systems have been particularly strong, thanks to their ability to handle humidity, corrosion, and temperature variation without compromising clarity.
